John
Tillinger is one of New York's eminent directors. His Broadway credits
include: Say Goodnight Gracie, Judgment at Nuremberg, Night Must Fall,
Getting and Spending, The Sunshine Boys, Inherit the Wind, Broken Glass,
The Price, Three Men on a Horse, Sweet Sue, Loot!, Corpse!, The Golden
Age and Solomon's Child. His West End/London credits inclued: What
the Butler Saw, Love Letters, Corpse! His other Off-Broadway credits
include: Arthur Miller's After the Fall and The Last Yankee;
A.R. Gurney's Love Letters, Another Antigone, and The Perfect
Party; Joe Orton's What the Butler Saw and Entertaining
Mr. Sloan; Breaking Legs, Prin; Urban Blight; The Film Society; Little
Murders; and Serenading Louie. He has been the literary Consultant
at Long Wharf Theatre since 1974 where he has directed numerous productions.
He directed Sarah Jessica Parker in A. R. Gurney's new comedy Sylvia,
which opened at Manhattan Theatre Club. He has directed four of Terrence
McNally's Off-Broadway productions: A Perfect Ganesh, The Lisbon Traviata (Lucille Lortel Award), It's Only a Play (Drama Desk nomination),
and Lips Together, Teeth Apart. He directed Tea at Five in Hartford, Cleveland and Boston prior to its New York arrival.
